My Story

 

I was born in Honolulu, Hawai'i. I taught myself how to play piano before I started kindergarten or knew how to read. Music runs in my family. I inherited a rich musical legacy from my father James Daniel Bla Pahinui. Like father like daughter. We are both a little bit out there and follow the beat of our own drummer. His Dad was Gabby Pahinui, the most influencial Hawaiian musician of the 20th century and leader of the cultural renaissance. 

My first love was classical music. I studied orchestral and marching percussion and have been a music educator for 22 years. I participated in drum & bugle corps for many years and toured with the Tony and Emmy award winning Broadway hit "Blast! The Show".

 

In 2005, I started exploring the math of music, geometry and music technology. I enjoy studying every aspect of how music can affect our bodies, health, emotions, consciousness and the very fabric of matter itself. The power of sound. By studying cymatics, I have come to realize how music can destroy or heal. 

 

I feel there is an urgent need for more music education in America. I hope to contribute to music and dance therapy research in traditional Western medicine and psychology.
